Angaga Island Resort ***
Angaga enjoys the combined benefits of a fine house reef, a beautiful lagoon and beach and a shady interior of palm trees and frangipani plants. The resort harmoniously blends into its natural surroundings and offers a high standard of accommodation, food and facilities. There is no organised entertainment programme in the evenings and the atmosphere is best described as discreet, quiet and natural.

Accommodation
The resort has 50 superior beach bungalows and 20 luxury water bungalows. Most rooms are detached, round, thatched roofed bungalows that have been built in small clusters around the edge of the island. All rooms have contemporary bamboo furniture, A/C, mini-bar and satellite TV.

Superiour Beach bungalows have a partially open-air bathroom with a shower, whilst water bungalows have a shower and bath. Some larger split-level family rooms make Angaga suitable for families. These rooms can be requested but they cannot be guaranteed.

In addition Water bungalows have a canopied four poster double bed and a private deck and access directly into the sea.

The demand for Water bungalows is very high and early booking is essential should you wish to stay in one.

Other facilities

Restaurant, 2 bars, Coffee shop, tennis, volleyball, watersports, spa.
The main restaurant offers buffets and there is a coffee shop for a la carte orders. Drinks are served from a main bar and sunset bar located at the end of the Water Villa jetty. There is also a purpose-built spa in the centre of the island that offers various massage treatments in a calm setting. Other activities include tennis, volleyball and various watersports.

Dive Centre
The excellent run Sub Aqua dive base is a PADI 5* resort. Unlimited diving is available for experienced divers. Boats depart 2 times a day and cater for all experience levels. Angaga's central location makes it ideally placed access dive sites year round.

Diving Information
Located in the middle of South Ari atoll, Angaga benefits from a beautifully natural atmosphere and one of the finest beaches in the Maldives. Beyond the beach, there is plenty of safe swimming available in the sheltered sandy-bottomed lagoon.

House Reef
The house reef at Angaga is rewarding to both divers and snorkellers alike. There are four entry points onto the reef, which wraps around the entire island. Supporting plenty of soft coral and marine life, the house reef provides access to unlimited diving for experienced divers, dropping to 35 metres at its deepest point.

Boat Diving
Angaga’s location allows for its dive boats to access some of the best dive sites on both the western and eastern sides of South Ari atoll. Located slightly nearer the western edge of the atoll, the island enjoys fabulous diving through the South West Monsoon. However, during the North East monsoon, access to Madivaru point, is both regular and easy. Madivaru is renowned in the Maldives for consistently attracting large numbers of Manta Rays to its gently sloping walls and is a real highlight of the boat diving available from Angaga.

Internal Transfers
If you are joining a boat or island outside of Male, your resort/boat is reached either by sea plane or boat transfer from Male airport, distance dependant.  This will be organised as part of your holiday, unless requested otherwise.

Seaplane Transfers
Currently all island resorts located in Ari atoll, Raa atoll, Baa atoll, Lhaviyani atoll, Felidhe atoll, Meemu atoll, North and South Nilande atolls, Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaaul atol are served by seaplane services, and some by internal scheduled flights. Some more distant islands offer a boat transfer as well, although as the transfer crosses between atolls they can often be long and uncomfortable.

You should check your confirmation to check that your transfer is by seaplane. If you are transferring by seaplane you should be aware of the following.

  • Seaplanes often pick up and drop off guests from a number of islands on a single transfer run.
  • Seaplanes are not pressurised flights.
  • Seaplanes only operate during daylight hours, generally 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
  • Seaplanes typically operate a strict weight policy of 20kg for hold luggage.
  • Excess luggage is currently approx. USD 2/kilo the outbound flight and approx. US 4/kilo for the return trip.
  • Seaplanes do not operate a fixed departure schedule, but are planned daily according to the islands and guests that must be picked up and dropped off. You may have to wait for a short duration after arriving in Male.
  • On departing your island resort your return seaplane transfer time will be confirmed the day before departure.

Longer Internal Flights
Island Aviation operates schedule flight services between Male and the outlying atolls. Transfers down to Huvadhoo and Gan in the South and Haa-Alifu in the North involve a connection on to an internal flight. This flight is pressurised and there are typically only one or two connections a day.

Connection Times & Day Use of Airport Hotel Facilities
International and internal flight schedules occasionally make fairly long connection times in Male Airport inevitable. Visitors can utilise a free shuttle bus from the terminal to the airport hotel.

The Hulehule airport hotel offers inexpensive day packages to non-residents for use of their pool, showers, left luggage and other facilities. An up to date list of packages and prices is available at the reception, or you may pre-book them with Regaldive (see separate webpage on Hulehule Airport hotel). Please check in to your return flight 3 hours prior to departure.

Departure Tax: n/a

Passports
Passengers travelling to the Maldives must have six months valid on their passport from the date of return to the UK.

Visas
A free 30 day permit is given to British travellers on arrival in Male. Other nationalities should consult their consular office.
