GETTING STARTED IN SCUBA DIVING

Scuba diving is something that can be enjoyed by almost anyone over the age of 12 and taking a short training course during a holiday in the sun is an increasingly popular way to get started.

Once you’re registered the dive centre will introduce you to the training materials and all the equipment that you need to breathe underwater.

Your instructor will give you an easily understood explanation of diving physics it really is basic stuff. Following a demonstration of how scuba equipment works and how it all fits together you will be ready to get out for your first taste of the underwater world.

You will discover all sorts of things that you never thought were possible, like taking your air supply out of your mouth; the water really does not rush in. And what happens if water gets in your mask you will learn it is not really a problem for a scuba diver your scuba instructor will show you a simple method for mask clearing and very soon you will be able to take your mask right off and replace it.

At first all this goes on in very shallow water near the shore, but within a few days you will be confidently climbing back on board a boat after venturing further a field.

There is still more to learn and where better to do this than enjoying the sunshine right next to the dive site, it is easy to grasp the dive theory when you are about to try it in the water for yourself.

Everything is done underwater in a calm and unhurried way. Your instructor is there to make sure you feel totally at ease in this unfamiliar liquid world. There is so much to see on a busy coral reef and you will be able to practice the skills needed to make the most of it.

Scuba diving is all about feeling relaxed in the water and before you know it you will be moving around as comfortably as the fishes. Your instructor will make sure you do not miss anything either whether it is a school of Barracuda or a gentle Manta Ray.

And at the end of your scuba course you will get an internationally recognised certificate. You will be a diver.
