horsea islandThe lake is split into three zones. "Wrecks" include Wessex Helicopter, armoured personnel carrier, Land rovers, recompression chambers, and a Royal Navy Cheverton Ferry boat. There are also training platforms. Unlike other inland sites, this lake comprises of sea water so marine life includes populations of crab, pipefish, gobies and lobster. There is also a vast number of jelly fish, possible due to the lack of natural predators.
Horsea Island is an operational military base, and as such, visiting civilian divers need to treat the facilities with respect. Each visitor must wear an identification tag at all times, even when diving, and must not not enter prohibited areas. Divers must use surface marker buoys at all times and must be qualified, or under instruction form a qualified instructor. No solo diving is permitted. Ideally, telephone bookings should be made at least 48 hours prior to your intended diving day as numbers are limited for each session and a surcharge applies for "on the day" bookings. Opening Hours
The out of water time is half an hour before closing time. Prices
