Sea Bed
The bottom is composed of sand with patches of Posidonia. To the South of the island shallow water regions can be found with depth ranging form 6 metres to 40 meters.

Dangers Because Filfla used to be used as a shooting target by the British Army in World War II, remains of ammunition as well as empty shells are to be found all over the island. Under no circumstances should the diver handle these devices. Furthermore a strong surface current in a south easterly direction is present on the west side and sometimes also on the north side of the island.

Visibility 10 - 30 meters. The water is very clear.

Navigation To dive here you need the permission of the Malta Maritime Authorities. Then just take a bearing following the drop-off, and the wall. You are likely to see some shoals of barracuda, and you cannot eliminate the chance of seeing a shark in these waters. You may also see large groupers and moray eels too. Always take care with your buoyancy... do not forget the explosives. Better to be accompanied by somebody who knows the site.

Entry/Exit Points Giant Stride entry.
Shore/Boat/Long
