Carolita Barge Wreck

Depth 8-25 meters

Attractions/Location  At the start of Lazzaretto creek and opposite the old hospital on Manoel island in Marsamxett harbour

Speciality Wreck divers / Low Visibility Diver / Advanced Open Water Diver 
You must be taken there by somebody that knows the area because the visibility is very low and the sea bed very silty bottom. 

Visibility 3 - 10 meters 

History The Carolita Barge received a torpedo hit in her stern on the night of 21 April 1942. She sank immediately. The seabed is covered in very fine silt and visibility drops during your dive.

Navigation. Go down, and follow the drop off to the right. At the very bottom on left hand side at a depth of about 10 meters, you will find the Carolita Wreck. The wreck is from the Second World War . You must take care of what you are doing because, the wreck is not very large only 20Mts. You will see the wreck when your very close to it. The bottom of the reef is rocky bottom with sandy areas.

Dive Sites
For all these dive sites, we recommend you gain plenty of local knowledge before diving and where possible dive with experienced divers who are very familiar with the sites. This is definitely the best way to enjoy a safe and interesting dives.
